We are recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded primary school in Wigan that is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary School Teacher to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons, fostering a positive learning environment, and ensuring that pupils achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning & Teaching

    • Deliver creative, engaging, and well-structured lessons aligned with the national curriculum.

    • Differentiate teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and EAL.

    • Use a range of assessment tools to track and evaluate pupil progress effectively.

  • Classroom & Pupil Management

    • Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment.

    • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning, ensuring a positive and respectful atmosphere.

    • Encourage pupil independence, curiosity, and resilience.

  • Collaboration & Communication

    • Work closely with colleagues, teaching assistants, and school leaders to support whole-school development.

    • Establish strong and supportive relationships with parents and carers, providing regular updates on pupil progress.

    • Contribute to staff meetings, training sessions, and wider school initiatives.

  • Professional Development & Safeguarding

    • Engage in continuing professional development to enhance practice.

    • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and adhere to all school and statutory safeguarding policies.



Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Proven experience of teaching within a primary school setting.

  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum.

  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to motivate and inspire pupils.

  • Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • A genuine passion for teaching and commitment to pupil progress and well-being.



Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience in delivering phonics and early reading programmes.

  • Familiarity with assessment frameworks such as EYFS, KS1, or KS2 SATs.

  • Experience supporting children with additional learning needs.

  • A willingness to contribute to extra-curricular activities and enrichment programmes.
